I had a trip to a Red Kite feeding station yesterday. Basically, it is a bird table for Red Kites. At 'feeding time' raw meat is placed on a table and the kites descend upon this, from the surrounding areas. It last for approx one hour, then the kites disappear again.

I managed to capture a few flight shots, from different locations and angles, so, hopefully, with some constructive critique, this will help to improve my flight shots in the future

Nice and sharp good focus. I think your colours are probably fairly accurate for the day. Good eye contact, was the kite under exposed?
I see you had a dull day, I remember Artie criticizing an image of mine several years ago he said "just because the weather was dull it doesn't mean the subject has to be" or words to that effect. I suspect you want to retain reality but you may wish to consider giving it a little "boost", little being the operative word. I used detail extractor on many of my recently posted red kite images using Artie's recipe, it just lifted the bird a little.

Not my personal favorite wing position, but the tail flare more than makes up for it. Exposure, details look good. I imagine the greenish cast in some areas is due to the grass below? You could eliminate it by using the sponge tool to desaturate them (judiciously). I'd move the kite back a tad. Good job overall, looking forward to more from the series!

Hi Will, I like the intense stare of the Kite, together with the show of the primaries. The colours pop nicely against the high key BG, and I agree moving him back a bit, or take a bit off the top.

Thanks for that, much appreciated. All points noted. Hi Jon, the kite wasn't under exposed.

    Hi Will,
The kite looks good but I could see aversion where you boost the blacks a bit. The translucent tail feathers are very nice.
    I agree with others re:comp.
