I was lucky last Sunday to be given the opportunity by John, to photograph these beautiful birds, harsh light
caused the usual problems of shadows and high contrast and I got the perch wrong.
Many thanks for comments on last post.

Looks good to me Graham. Light handled very well I reckon- especially the head. Nice OOF Oaks in the BG.
Its better than mine so shan't ask you again.

Lovely shot but a little underexposed, if you lift the mid tones it makes a big difference.

Lovely bird with nice pose and bg. To my eye you handled the light pretty well, and the exposure looks OK too, on my screen.

    Very nice.
I wish that the branch had not been there to intersect with the tail.
Otherwise I like the head turn and the IQ. Great BG and harsh light not a big issue for me.

Very nice looking bird and pose. Agree that it is slightly underexposed. But should be fixed easily.

Beautiful bird, I love the texture to the feathers you got here. I'm OK with the perch, but I agree with Gail about the tail merging with it. Reducing the contrast may help along with a slight exposure bump IMO.

Thanks for all comments, appreciated as always.
It is a shame about the tail and yes, slightly lifting the exposure/midtones helps I think.
Thanks for the compliment John and helping me get the shot.

A very nice shot in challenging light, nice pose. Good points about lifting midtones to reduce contrast on the dark end. I might consider reducing the greens a bit.

Hi Graham, lovely angled pose, and I do like the colours on this fellow.
