Taken the same time as my earlier theme snow goose post. The birds were coming at me off the field in waves so that at times it was hard to single out just one. 7DII,EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 IS @ 400mm, ISO200, f/6.3, 1/2000, HH
Hi Bob, been there, trying to single out the 'best' one is sometimes difficult. I would have liked to see a better POV, but I know it aint easy it that situation. I do like the detail on the head and the clouds make a nice BG. At ISO 200 I am sure you would be able to lift the shadows on the underside a little.
You exposed well for the whites. The pano comp works nicely, and I like that you got some clouds in the background. I do wish the goose was better sunlit overall - at least the face and neck are.
Thanks Daniel---Glad you like the comp as it's a favourite of mine for spread wing birds. Unfortunately this was shot at high noon, hence the high sun angle lighting the birds from above-wish I could have been there in the early evening but this was just a seized opportunity as I was passing by to get a bunch of exposures of geese close up in a 1 hr . window of time that day. They were actually feeding on a soccer field in the middle of an upscale residential area and I took some shots as they wandered across the road onto a nicely manicured green lawn.
