    Northern Flickers are really good parents. During the course of 2 days, I observed this pair taking turn to go feed and hunt for the chicks. The nest is defended 24/7. In fact there is a squirrel who tried to into the nest and got poked by the one guarding the nest.

    In this image, the female had just returned to the nest and started feeding her chicks inside. Now it the male's turn to go out hunting.

    Perfectly captured. I like the details on the birds and perch, blending nicely with the BG. The red takes it up a notch.
