Just a simple setup near the cottage, but I love the perked up pose this Hermit Thrush temporarily adopted as it landed on the branch.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/125s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, almost FF, toned down the brightest parts of the perch, NR to the BG, audio used.

Dan I think your own description of your image covers my thoughts perfectly, pose on the bird makes it for me.Lovely clean simple image that does not need a thing the way I look at it.

I like the pose and perch but I have reservation over the large dark green area on the left.

Nice perky pose and I like the rich greens. And the just slightly open beak. The song of these guys echoing through the north woods is one of the sweetest sounds I know. Was there any cloning near the branch just to our right of the bird?

Hi Dan, another clean and simple portrait of a delicate looking subject, well executed.

Very nice indeed. Would make a lovely page in a Bird Book. Love the greens

Wonderful capture with great pose and sharp detail, but the bright green leaves pull my eye. I would darken them and bring in more tonal detail.

    Hi Dan,
Love the bird but wish you could include all of the cut off leaf in your composition.
The slightly open bill is nice as is the perky tail. This would have been "killer" had the bird been a bit more parallel to the sensor.Still, you got good DOF for 5.6!
