Another warbler. This one's not from Magee Marsh, but from Webster Park along the shore of Lake Ontario, where we stopped overnight on the way to Magee.

Delightful shot Bill, just wondering if the plumage is just a tad over sharpened - maybe not possibly just the light.

Very pretty pose and i like the perch. No expert here but the head and throat looks a bit over sharpened, crunchy as they say. BG is sweet!

Thanks guys. Yes, when I looked it after posting it, it looked to me that the breast and mantle and maybe in front of the eye are a bit crunchy.

Great calling pose, Bill. Very nice light, BG, and like the lichen perch. Agree with the comments re the sharpening.

Very nice, but I also think the sharpening is a little much.

Nice pose and BG. Very interesting "perch." Lots of interest there. Agree on the sharpening.

Thank you all. Here's a version with only minimal sharpening applied to the warbler.

Yep that's better, a thought just occurred to me possibly 1/250 sec a little slow? WDYT?

Jonathan, I have no idea. I noticed that when I checked the EXIF before posting. Normally I never use less than 1/500 with this lens combo and usually faster. In the few frames prior to this the bird was in a shady spot and maybe I quickly dialed the SS back to accommodate that perch, and then forgot to change when he flew to this sunny patch. In the several other frames on this perch his lower mandible shows motion blur from his singing; this one does too, but not as bad. He was flitting all over the place, and even though I managed to keep up with him in the camera, my brain failed to keep pace.

The repost is not as over sharpened but it's not as sharp either. Jonathan might have a good point about the slow shutter speed. That's probably it. Otherwise I love the pose of the colors on this one. Well done
