There is a very large breeding colony of Common Terns at Breezy Point in Queens, New York. In the late evening, many of the birds come and spend some time sitting on the beach and preening. This one came quite close to me and seemed to stick his chest out and show me who really belonged on that beach. Photographed while lying in the sand and camera on tripod with legs fully extended.
Canon 7dii and Canon 500f4ii + 1.4x iii. ISO 400, F 7.1, SS 1/2500, -1/3
Converted in DPP 4 using auto white balance. Typically I like daylight white balance for shots like these but it just gave a very blue cast to the bird. In PS I cloned out a small amount and debris on beach, sharpened and noise reduction to background.
