Still amazes me how they hold a mouthful like that.

I like the bird on the perch very much. The prey items stuffed in the mouth add a great deal of interest. I like the stump as well but it seems to have a green cast to it. Maybe that is just moss or algae? That kind of background is perfect for me (I know we differ on that ) but it looks a bit pixellated to me. Also it looks like you went over the antenna that are above and to the left of the bird. There are a total of 5 of them that look blurred and not crisp like the others. The color on them changed as well. Also not sure what it is but there is a red spot showing on the left leg as viewed that seems out of place. Is that another ring? It is a very nice image that I think can be made better with some minor tweaks.

    Thanks for commenting.
Nothing has been done to the image apart from removing the rings. I obviously missed a tiny bit.
If the branch has a green cast then being surrounded completely by dense Oak canopy may explain it. My colour checker didn't find anything but could be my gear.
The antennae you mention are out of focus because the plane of focus is on the head and these are behind. As for the colour they are that colour- dont know why.
I may do a bit of masking at timesw but I wouldn't chance my luck with something that fine.
I have given it a round of neat image.
    Cheers

That looks much better. Really like the repost. Almost makes me want to buy Neat Image now. Made a huge difference. Actually have some shots that could use a bit of noise reduction and I do not like what NIK Dfine did to them.

Neat image is OK but you need to get to know it- which I am only just attempting. In the old days when I used it on shots from my 6 and 10 million pixel cameras, it was really bad. It likes the big stuff !

Yes, the repost looks better in the sharpness (the OP is oversharpened) and contrast departments. That is a way cool bill-full of bugs!

Yes I agree the repost does look better. I really like this Frame a lot and I think it's one of your better offerings in a while.
That Beak full of mayflies looks awesome
I sure love that background too. Well done
