    Default Willet in fading light

Photographed this Willet at Breezy Point in Queens, New York. Photo taken in the last few moments of sun before it set behind the dunes. That is my favorite time of day to be out shooting as it makes for such beautiful and soft light. Although Willets are very common in New York, I rarely see them out on the beach as they are always in the salt marshes. So getting them on the beach at sunset was a real treat for me.

    Canon 7d ii and Canon 500 f4 ii + 1.4x iii. ISO 640, f6.3, SS 1/1600, +1/3rd

Converted in DPP 4. Daylight white balance. Basic adjustments in PS, cropped, sharpened and noise reduction to background.

You caught the evening light spot on here Isaac. Like the way the blurred FG merges nicely with the back
    Well done.

Very pretty image but id like to see a brighter exposure. What do you think?

Lovely soft muted colours Isaac and a nice pose, bird does look a tiny bit soft to me but I like the image overall.

A lovely shot with beautiful light and a terrific low POV. Nice pose, too. There seems to be plenty of detail, but maybe a tiny bit more USM?? It's bordering on personal preference. Willets are sometimes underrated, but can be lovely in this kind of light.

Thanks for the feedback. I see that this bird is not super sharp. I think it is more a function of the light but could be wrong. I can try to do a bit more sharpening to see what happens. I did try a version with Detail extractor at 1% but didn't like it. Seems too crunchy to me.

Wow great light! Excellent low angle, perfect head angle, the raised foot adds a lot. The BG rocks too. I love pretty much everything about the image, very well done. My eyes keep thinking there should be a tiny bit of CCW rotation performed on the image. Top notch image overall.
