Common Loons swimming in a central Minnesota lake last weekend. Sometimes the chicks would get tired ands climb up on one of the adults for a rest. Canon 7Dll, 100-400ll at 400mm, f7.1, 1/800 ss, iso640

Love the way the little one as is leg up,very relaxed in this nice family scene. The birds do look a little soft to me but my eyes are not the best, does not look like you had a lot of light.

Nice one. Love the stuck up foot ! I know they are smooth feathered but perhaps the head could use a little burning in.
    Good family shot though.

Very nice pose of this bird; especially that lifted foot! Such a comical pose, Michael. And you can definitely see the chicks climbing up to the adult. I am not on a color managed monitor, but I'd like to see a little more room all around.

    Dear Michael,

What a delightful scene, I bet you were smiling from ear to ear when you took this image:)

I have never seen Loons in real life so not appropriate for me to comment on colours. I did take the liberty to do an RP on your lovely frame as I felt the subjects could do with a tad more "pop" - what do you think, does it work for you or is it too much? Curves, Levels, exposure adj. in PSCC, some more sharpening applied, all selectively. I like the title and especially the behavioural aspect captured, little ones are absolutely adorable, thank you so much for sharing!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Gabriela, I think your modifications made it look a lot better, thanks! what exposure change did you make? How much sharpening did you apply? it looks sharper without being grainy, I like it.

I tried making some of the same modifications in light room. added some sharpening, a bit of light, and brightened the eye. It looked a little grainy blown up large, but should look fine for the web.

Nice-looking frame Michael. I like the poses of the chicks and the whole scene looks great. I think Gabriella's repost did wonders for an already nice frame. Well done
