Default THEME: It's a matter of perspective

While photographing daylilies I noticed tiny black ants in some of them. At first I thought I wanted a "real" picture of an ant, all in focus. Then I decided I really just wanted the perspective of the tiny ant in the seemingly huge cavern of the day lily. No special effects post production, so maybe this is a "real" picture of an ant, after all!

BTW, reds and greens are coming out more saturated in my WEB versions that my larger JPEGS. I just moved to a new computer and lost all my previous settings. Is there something that I should be adjusting for the WEB version?

Great image! I love the little black ant perched on the edge of a precipice. The lines seem to radiate from the little critter. Excellent shallow dof. The limited number of colors helps make this a striking image!
What camera, lens and settings did you use?

Actually this is very nice. I am wishing for the ant to be much more closer to the bottom of the frame to highlight that feeling of it going into a huge cave. But you can't tell the ant where to be. I love the color here actually. Have you tried different browser? I am on Chrome/MacBook Air combo and saw the same color when I download the picture and open it on Preview.

I love the ant and the perspective, Nancy! Hopefully Diane will chime in and fix your new computer problem.

Anita, I used the Canon 5D Mark III, my go to camera for all my macro images of flowers & insects, with the Canon 100 macro lens. Settings were 1/500, f2.8, ISO 2000.

Adhika, I did try to tell the ants where to be. I had a tiny stick and thought I could encourage them where I wanted them. They often just climbed on my stick and took no suggestions from me!

I like where the ant is in relation to the curvature of the petal, and I agree with Adhika about the colors. I don't know if it would've made the lily seem more cavernous or not, but I wonder how it would look with focus stacking of the nearer parts of the petal (if the ant were willing to cooperate, of course).

Dennis, I'm pretty sure the ant would not stand for any useful focus stacking!
