A quick one before this months theme gets over . Just returned from Bandhavgarh and thought to post this typical Cat behaviour .
Canon 5D MKIII , canon 500mm f4 IS II with 1.4x T.C. Bean Bag,
Early morning , tiger sitting in dry river bed, not an ideal backdrop though.
ss 1/1000 , f/7.1, iso 4000 .
DPP4 , CS6, Levels , selective colour , WB ,Brightness and contrast, NR, Sharpness, cropped slightly from all four sides .
ALL your C&C's are most welcome , especially on colours ( being the last day of this months theme i am straight away posting this otherwise would have followed Steve and Gabriela's advice of waiting atleast a day before looking at the image again and then posting the same ).
Hi Haseeb - Thanks for posting another theme image. Always great to see a tiger image and nice to see one relaxed. Typical cat behavior as you said. Yes, a busy bg and perhaps not an ideal angle/comp but I know you were limited by the vehicle and space. Overall, the image feels just a little flat. Since you asked about the colors, there's a hint of blue creeping into the whites. An easy fix if you are so inclined. Looking forward to seeing more from your trip.
Haseeb don't think I would have noticed if Rachel had not pointed it out but I cab see a bit of blue especially on the chest.I do like the lazy licking pose on this magnificent animal .
I am often jealous of those lovely tiger images, but every time I think of what a photographer has to go through to get them I decide to stick to my Kalahari lions:)
I guess you did not have much choice in terms of obtaining a different angle here (for a less busy BG). Tiger is so close to vegetation that a lesser aperture would be detrimental to the subject, so I say good thinking on techs, my friend. I like the relaxed grooming pose, visible eye and pink tongue lazily caressing the paw. What beautiful, strong body with lovely patterns in the fur, nice muscle definition on the front limb: this tiger is the epitome of good health!
In terms of colour I too notice a tad of blue on the chest. I could be wrong but perhaps some faint magenta creeping in, I have not checked, worth looking at the small area inside the ear. I agree with Rachel, looks a bit flat, maybe that is because of the busy BG - it could be an illusion. I would try some curves or levels on the tiger's body but selectively applied, see if it works?Backgrounds can make an image but that can also pose a challenge, in this case the upward sticks compete with the lines of the tiger. A crazy thought, if this is FF and can handle a heavy crop, I would go very tight to remove distractions and perhaps the result will be one of greater impact? Another less extreme idea would be to try and "drain" some of the colours from the BG to some extent.
This is very special Hasseb, perhaps not perfect but such were your circumstances, I personally would be pleased to have it in my folders - thank you so much for sharing
Haseeb ,this really is glorious, for me Andre's repost benefits your wonderful capture, maybe i'm not viewing a perfect world ,but with what i can see i really like his repost. Ahh buddy ,the tiger is so relaxed it's really an enchanting frame to view. Gabby's post was really interesting regarding BG/crop thoughts(thanks mate made me ponder)as the notes on colour. I like the backdrop Haseeb I love the similar coloured that echo the subject. She's or He's so "strong" in the frame Hasseeb I can't take my eye away from the cat.
thanks for this
