    Why don't camera manufacturers offer Arca-Swiss plates as original equipment?

    If they did, their bodies couldn't be used with Manfrotto tripods and monopods.

    Ah, Thanks, David. Could the Manfrotto gear be modified to accept the A-S plates?

    Jim, not that I discovered. Manfrotto doesn't even have converters to allow you to move between their frustrating variety of unique, proprietary plates. That's why I moved away from Manfrotto.
