    Hello guys,

Your comments have been helping me a lot, I have not posted any comments because I don't feel qualified to perform any critique. Please feel free to go hard on me, I would appreciate it.
This one was heavily cropped to 1/5 of the original size, pentax k10, iso 200, 1/1000, f2.8 sigma 70mm macro, hand held, shake reduction (in camera).

BTW is that a green hornet?:D:confused:

Alberto..Do comment! Saying what you like and maybe aren't so fond of in others images helps your own eye too.

Love the in and out of focus flower, that could be an image all on its own! Looks like you have the front part of the hornet in good focus its just that flower bit covering the head, important part of the bug, is rather distracting.

Hi Alberto - keep up the good work, agree with Nonda that the part of the flower covering the wasps head is distracting.
Gorgeous background - if you could have got the wasp on the outer stems of the flower looking at you - WOW.

I am not good at macro myself - but I think macro is all about DOF - IE: it would be good to have more of the hornet in focus than what you have.

    Alberto,
You have the right idea here but the hornet's head and eyes are covered by the flower...:( Perhaps a different angle would have been better or just waiting for the little guy to come out in the clear...patience always pays off...

to add to what the others said above, i would crop off some of the left side of the image. not a lot going on there so may as well lose it. you could actually add to the right side if you have it to add back!

agree with Nonda, which aint often:D, dont hesitate commenting on everyone elses pics!!! the mods will critique your critique and will make your learning curve even quicker because you are learning from everyone's pics and not just your own!

Hi Alberto do chic in and say what you think !!! Will be helpful !!!

For this image I would have waited for the bug to line up so the eyes were visible. The bug is pretty, the flower is pretty and the bg is pretty ... but you need something to anchor the image and nothing seems to be doing it.

Might want to check a longer focal length? 70 is sort of tough. I have a Sigma 150 2.8 The only non Nikon lens I own and prefer over the Nikon choices. Use it with a 1.4X all the time.

Yes Albert, we all appreciate comments on our photo's. Other than a handful of people here the rest of us are not professionals, so feel free to express your feelings about our shots.
Your shot is great, agree with Gus on the bee's head being covered by the flower. Very nice colors
Regards, and see you on Saturday afternoon field trip
