A family of juvenile kingfishers has seemed to have taken up residence at my neighborhood lake. They seem less wary than their fully adult counterparts. This was not a set up - I just waited by a dead tree out in the lake and this guy came by shortly afterward. Cleaned up some distracting elements in BG and on branch.

Very well done waiting fot the bird to give you a nice natural shot,I do like the nice feather detail and the smooth bg,I do wonder though if the image is just a little dark, just my personal take of course Allen.

Looks Ok to me Allen Like the head turned back. One of my favourite poses. A hint of something in the BG is nice(personally I,d prefer a bit more but no big deal)
    Good stuff

Lovely shot, the bird is excellent but I too would suggest lifting the darker elements a little.

Neat pose, good details. Just a touch dark, but not too bad. Personally I would crop a bit off the bottom and add it back above, this would help with the thick perch. Your patience certainly paid off.

Well done Allen. Great capture, I agree, its a little dark, but the details and pose on the KF are very nice.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Here's a repost trying to lighten the perch and BG and different cropping.
