Despite all the fresh green foliage and beautiful flowers budding on trees this time of year, this fella sometimes chooses to perch on last season's dried plants. This species likes new growth forest with open spaces and meadows so there is no lack of milkweeds, mulleins, and other tall plants to dry up. Makes for pretty neat images nonetheless, especially with a fresh BG!

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/320s., f/7.1, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, FF, darkened the pupil, evicted a couple of ugly webs on the flower head.

Dan this is a smashing looking little warbler with beautiful colours that fit the BG perfectly, bird is nice and sharp and well exposed,no problem with the natural dried plant.

Really like everything about it. Only way I could see it MAYBE being any better would have been a little head turn with eye contact.

Daniel, this fellow was posing for you. The colors are just lovely. Perfect exposure for both the black and the white. Loi

Very nicely composed and processed, I always enjoy seeing the legs on differing parts of the perch - I don't know why but it seems to add that certain little extra.

Beautiful work. I like the dried flower perch for the contrast it implies on many levels.

Gorgeous all a round -- pose, detail, color, BG, and a great perch that picks up the browns in the bird.
