Last Rainbow for a while. I'm heading off for around three weeks, so posting and critiquing may not be often, if at all. I do hope to come back with something different to rainbows.

In ACR - Increased exposure a full stop.
In PSCS6 - Cloned out bird on LHS and took out perch prop on RHS. Curves layer adjustment on bird and separate one on BG. NR on BG. Cropped and smart sharpened for posting

Great shot and amazing job on cloning out those pieces of the perch! You might write that up as a tutorial for those trying to sharpen their skills in PS! I love the pose too.

Glennie, this is an awesome posture. The underside of the wing is really beautiful and you capture it so well in this pose. Have fun on your get away. I am sure you will come back with lots of good shots!

Nothing to add, except to add weight to what has already been written. And I would like a copy of that cloning tutorial, please. Have a great trip.

Wow! What a pose! Love those wings! Colors and tonalities are wonderful and fantastic BG cleanup!!

I was out today shooting backyard birds (mostly brown and gray) and realized I have given you some really bad advice about rotating the camera in the tripod collar. At least if you have a ball head and it is loose. In that case it is very easy to get everything disastrously out of balance. I'm always on a gimbal head with anything that has a tripod collar so just wasn't thinking. I don't know what your tripod head is, but if a ballhead whose base can rotate, flip the stem into one of the dropdown notches on the right (or maybe the left in the southern hemisphere...) and then you can have a reasonably stable platform to pan the lens, move it up and down, and rotate the body in the collar. It too much weight is off center, hang a weight on the tripod, on a hook under the head if there is one, or rig one around the head with some zip ties. I find a gallon water jug is good.

Have a great trip -- looking forward to what you bring back! I'd be happy to babysit your place and birds while you're gone....

Oh yeah, I can take shifts with Diane on that one. We need to feed your rainbow and butchers, Glennie!
