Landing with a splash
Hi,

the uncropped picture was taken at Al Qudra lakes Dubai with EOS 5D Mark III, 100-400 at 510mm, SS 1/1600, f11, ISO 800, the image is of a large Australian Swan (I believe).
appreciate your comments and suggestions.
Thanks,
Niels

Niels, this is amazing. Very nice choice of shutter speed, it freezes the water as well and I love it. The light is beautiful. I would love to see more canvas up top and to the left but the subject itself is very well done. The highlight is bright without blowing out the whites and that is good work!

Nice Shot. You did a wonderful job of capturing the moment. Good choice of Fast Shutter Speed.
I would give more space towards the left and also at the top.
Thank you for sharing...

Thanks guys,
unfirtunately the swan was coming straight at me and I was happy that I managed to keep him in the frame and since the picture is not cropped I cant increase the frame.
I highly appreciate your comments,
thank you,
Niels

Yes. Definately an Aussie Black Swan. I agree with Adhika, about more room, particularly in front. If you have PS and it is not against your ethics, it would be relatively easy to add canvas to the image. Exposure looks very good. There could be a very slight magenta cast on the wings and neck. I have tried to photograph these birds here and getting the colour right is difficult. They have a sheen that could almost be magenta! Did you get to see the beautiful ruffled feathering on the back?
Well done!

An excellent job capturing the sudden action! Great comments above. (Being late here saves a lot of typing.) I agree about adding canvas -- would be interested to know if it is an ethical issue or just one of skill level in PS. It's easy to do.
I'd compare a version with the midtones just a tad darker. Maybe a touch of Clarity or Dehaze if you're using LR/ACR.
(Always good to give your processing as one of us can never remember what anyone uses....)
Look forward to seeing more!
