Having a breather from eating midges Ringed Plover
Taken on my local river couple of days ago, loads of midges for all the birds,cannon500mm IS,L,F4,1/4EXT,FL700MM,5D MK111,TRPOD set low,ISO1250,F5.6,1/1000S,CROP,SHARPENED,SH,CURVES,CB.
Hi Chris. I like this one better. The bird pops well against the stones in the BG. I love the pose and the colours throughout the image. 6.3 would have been better here, as Jon pointed out. Lovely image and TFS
Love that face and breast band. From where I sit the whole thing could go lighter as the belly looks quite gray, grayish blue in fact... Easy to get rid of the blue cast with a Hue Sat ADJ to the BLUE channel. a

My nemesis bird. I have checked through tens of thousands of Semi-palmated Plovers in NY trying to find one of these guys. And when one finally showed I was texted a pic and consulted about what the bird actually was and confirmed what it was but could not beat the traffic and get there in time to see it!!!
Anyway this is a very nice photo. Details look great and the stones add interest to the image to me. I would lighten the bird and the rest as well. The whites of the bird look too gray to me and the exposure on the whole image could be brought up. If being super picky, the larger out of focus rocks in the background, especially the one right over the plovers back are a bit distracting.
Thanks for looking and comments, the light was slightly to the right as you can see in the eye reflection, and the under belly in the shade,I take your points onboard, thanks again.
