    Default Cape May Warbler

My wife and I drove out to Magee Marsh, Ohio last week, with a stopover in upstate NY where I got the Spotted Sandpiper. We've been to a few of the world-renowned warbler hotspots in the past, including Magee, but our timing has always been off. This time, we arrived in the parking lot, at 3:00 PM on Thursday, and saw a crowd of 100 people jockeying for position to see a rare Kirtland's Warbler through the brush. 50 yards away, also on the edge of the parking lot, another crowd was enjoying a tree that sported 15 species of warblers. The cold front and its northerly shift in the wind held the warblers on the south side of Lake Erie for the three days that we were there. An amazing fallout the likes of which I had never seen. Anyway, here's the first one that I've processed -- a very acrobatic male Cape May. Full-height, cropped from horizontal. Removed some branches. More warblers to follow.

A little beauty, Bill. Wonderful when the timing is perfect. I look forward to more of your warblers. Thank you for sharing.

The pose is SO much fun and the colors scheme is pleasing. Colors and sharpness look great. Catch light doesn't look quite right to my eyes.

Nice one, love that pose! all the pics I see of this species are all round and puffed up just sitting there, this one is on the move, probably foraging for insects. nice colors, background looks good ~MT

Thanks everyone. Marina, the catchlight was naturally occurring, but in the original file it looked slightly fragmented from filtered light through the trees. I cleaned up a fragment, and brightened it a bit. Maybe too much?
