    Default whimbrel in weeds

Whimbrels were migrating throughout Texas and i saw them multiple times in different habitat. I saw them in grassy marshes and along beach scrub vegetation. I had only seen them previously along a shoreline. Whimbrels are heading to the tundra for nesting. This is nearly full frame and i do not have room to position the bird more to the left side.

Hi Ann, excellent flight pose showing the full downstroke of the near wing. I do like how the Whimbrel is flying clear of the foliage, and feel, moving him back to the left a bit would take him off a central placement.

Great flight pose and I really like the vegetation. Nice colours throughout and very pleasing to the eye

Beautiful flight pose, and I love the sense of habitat. I wonder if a touch of Tonal Contrast on the bird would make him pop? You could, of course, move him a little to the left if you were so inclined. But it's a lovely frame as posted.

Excellent as always Ann. Just love your frames with the touches of habitat; not enough to detract from the bird. Here is a question for you. You say you "don't have the room to position bird more to the left." If this were mine I would consider adding canvas to the right and slicing a bit off the left. Now I know you would have thought about this. Can you explain your reasoning?

    Hi Glennie,
Sure, I agree with you about adding canvas however, i am "limping" along with my IMac which has been giving me trouble when i work on an image in Photoshop... It is ten years old, and needs to be retired in a lovely pasture somewhere... I have done my homework and chosen a new computer and monitor. When i am able to settle in probably mid summer ( I have a trip coming up) and take on the task of a new computer, etc, ... I will most likely revisit this image and add canvas. For now, I will post with minimal processing in PS. I have much to learn about processing as my skill level is pretty low!

Nicely done. With a bit more luck, the bird would have been angling toward you.... a
