    Default American Alligator

I was at Circle B Bar Reserve this morning looking for birds to photograph when this alligator crossed the road in front of me, so I gave it a couple of snaps. The gravel part of the road is about 8 feet wide, so I would estimate this alligator to be about 10 feet long. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Hi Joe, I might suggest going a bit more 'pano', retaining the width, but less top & bottom. The road is a bit unfortunate but nothing you could do. I'm wondering if /5.6 might have been better?

    Nice to see something different.

Thanks Steve, but I am not going to do much with this. It was just a quick snap while the alligator was visible. I posted it really only so those who were interested could get a look at this monster, not that I thought it was a great wildlife image.

OK Joe, perhaps next time try a fisheye or Wide angle to bring some drama/scale into the capture .

    Hello Joe!

A 10 feet monster! How exciting to see and capture, or rather "snap" this fellow, all wet and shiny and with a cheeky expression:)

I understand you are just sharing so thank you for this - always happy to see you pop in to Wildlife! If you decide to revisit, perhaps you would consider tackling the HL on the body and maybe taking off some from the bottom of the frame.

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Joe - It's hard to tell his size so thanks for the reference. Light looks like it was a bit sharp. Btw there is now a forum "Just for Fun" for images like this where you want to share it but aren't really interested in critique. It's in the top section of forums, just below the Introduction Forum.

    TFS,
    Rachel

    Hi Joe

I wonder, where is he going to/ coming from..?
Interesting capture, just too much hot FG that distracts the eye from the gator.
Good suggestion from Steve, would crop where grass begin on LHS..
He still looks wet, maybe just from the water?
    Regards

    Andre.
