Something a bit different. I'm not sure how many folk with actually think this is OK? BG is deep shadow with a Rainbow lorikeet just passing into the sunlight.

In ACR - decreased exposure, highlights and shadows.
In PSCS6 - Curves layer on bird and branch. NR on BG, small crop and smart sharpened for posting.

What a great catch!! Gorgeous detail on the FG bird -- enough to make the Lorikeet not too much competition. The Background Police wouldn't like it, but I do!!

Guess I'll never have to join the background police. I was wondering why the title Incoming because I couldn't tell it was a bird there. Thanks for explaining. Maybe the fact that I couldn't tell lets me know the bkgrd is set off enough not to compete with the foreground bird. Nice eye catch.

Excellent image, Glennie! For whatever reasons, it feels like this one is taken at night with a fill flash. It's a nice mood change from the usual green background.

On a separate note, I would title this "Ghost" LOL. But "Incoming" is really appropriate. Now, do you have an image of the lorikeet incoming like that on its own? That would be an awesome catch! :D

Adhika, I'm going to nail one of these incoming birds. They are quite spectacular with their landing gear down. They normally only have one speed, and that's flat out!

That's what I was thinking as well. And once you know there's another bird, it's really another interesting detail, which adds to the mood for me. And is still not too distracting from the main subject.

So, I think a very interesting idea, well captured. Thank you for sharing!
