    Default ANGEL OAK BLUR

Before the back went, we had an early morning shoot at the Angel Oak Park near Charleston. This zoom was obtained with a small change in focal length. PP included conversion to B&W and accentuation of the lines with poster edge and Topaz Simplify BuzSim Black Lines II. A tedious chore was getting rid of multiple signs.

Wonderful amount of energy emanating from this fantastic tree! It seems to be radiating energy all around. The B&W treatment works really well. I like that you retained the gorgeous structure of the trunk and branches. If I stare at it too long, I get dizzy. Excellent and unique interpretation of this tree which has been photographed so many times.

You did a wonderful job on this. A zoom blur was a great idea, and the amount of zoom you used worked out very well. I like that it continues beyond the edges. Thumbs up for the conversion to black & white, too.

I've never seen this tree in person, so I can only imagine what confronted you in the way of signs. Whatever your technique was in getting rid of them, it was very successful. Signs and backgrounds can be very frustrating. What is thought to be the country's largest bebb oak, a white oak / burr oak hybrid, is only a few miles from where I live. Every time I see it, I want to photograph it, but the huge sign proclaiming what a wonder it is was erected right in front of the trunk, and there are buildings all around. Seeing what you've done has convinced me I need to take some shots and deal with the surroundings in Photoshop.

This is explosive! Totally agree with all those good comments from Anita! And so sorry that your back gave out during the workshop. Certainly inconsiderate of that body part! Hope you are mending. If misery loves company 8 years ago I tore up my knee in the Denver Airport on my way to a trip to Namibia. I thought I would be ok once I got to South Africa but instead ended up in the hospital, had surgery, got MRSA infection, hospital stay of 4 weeks, nearly a year learning to walk again. And of course, Namibia was forfeited.

That's horrible, Nancy! I'm going to quit even noticing that my knee is a little sore sometimes from old age.

Gary, I didn't mean to hi-jack your thread. But thank you Anita And Diane for your thoughts. I am now good for daily wear and tear and I never did like that jogging thing! Plus my dog is old and he is so glad that I am happy with his slower pace!

The zoom blur adds to the majesty and power of the tree. Like the tones you have chosen.

Thanks to all for the look and comments. My wife and I have made two trips to the South in the past three years. For me the live oaks alone have made the trips worth while.

Hi, Gary, sorry I'm so late commenting and will add my praises to the image. I live in Florida and have never been to Charleston - this is certainly a good reason to go. I hope your back is healing up
