Roseate Spoonbill

Taken from a boat this spring near Bradenton, FL. It was raining pretty good just 10 minutes before this shot and we were all looking at each other like we'd had just about enough. All of a sudden it cleared, and this spoonbill flew right by us.
Toned down the whites at the base of the neck, raised the shadows for more detail under the wing, Neat Image NR, and smart sharpening.
Nikon D4 with 80-400 f4.5-5.6 @ 400mm handheld, iso 1600, f5.6, 1/8000 sec. Should have lowered the ISO but forgot to do so as soon as the rain cleared out.
All comments welcomed. Thanks for looking.

Hi John,
Nice overall sharpness on the bird and I like the detail you have maintained even in the shadows. Sun angle may not have been the best but you handled it well.

Thanks Allen, you're right about the sun angle being far from optimal. But it sure was better than the rain shower that threatened to wash us out.

I'd have preferred more frontal light, at very least for the face area, but you did best you could with what you had. I love the near wings fully splayed feathers. I also appreciate the hint of cloud in the sky.

Hi John, I like the angled flight pose, and what a great view of the splayed near wing. Love the colours of these guys, and not much you could have done with the light angle.
