The Dogwoods were gorgeous this year! I brought some in to photograph.

In addition to usual editing, including Viveza and CEP Color Range, I experimented with Topaz Glow. Lighting Effects also used. Added two textures, a brown canvas and a white canvas.

Anita, the textures are a little too strong for my taste on this one. I like the fact that they compliment the colors on the tips of the dogwood flower.

In terms of their combined color and the way the lines flow with respect to the blossom, what you did with the textures was just right. I like how the textures blend into the petals, too. It makes it look like everything belongs together. Dogwood blooms are one of the great things about springtime.

I had this same thought and tried various ways of reducing the brown texture, but I'd put it on early in my processing and to change it I would have to start all over, which, I might do. Thanks for the input!!

Thanks, Dennis. I, too, like the colors and how they work together. I may try another version with less strong texture.

I love the texture here. My first impression was of a flower that had been pressed in parchment years ago.

You could go for many variations with a lovely image like this.

I also like the strong brownish texture and the lines. I would like to see that one outreaching petal more clearly. It seems to nearly disappear into the texture. I like this particular angle on the dogwood blossom.

Thanks, Nancy. I'll work on that one petal.

I like the colors of this image, but my first thought was also that the front petal blended a little too much with the texture. For me, the texture almost takes precedence over the flower, which probably was not your intent.

Good point. I lightened the texture on the back petal in response to Nancy's comment. I think I need to do the same for the front petal. I very much appreciate your thoughts.
