Not too many birds here in Marco Island at this time of the year, but there seems to be a whole lot of burring owl nest everywhere on the island. This one was standing guard just outside her nest.

    Hi Oscar - nice bird.

Sharpened and saturated and lightened the eyes a little - and with that stare Couldn't help a centred crop.

I am sure someone will improve it even better.

i like your subject and like the compositon, but looks like you had overhead sun that was way too harsh!! i dont think you could have done anything different at the time unless you had someone hold an umbrella over his head!!!:D

try them in the early morning! have you had a chance to get to tigertail beach yet? the lagoon there usually has some spoonies. peregrine falcons in the area too!!

.... I like the umbrella suggestion !!!! Lots of harsh light makes it difficult !!!

Could go with either crop For the original would take some from the top !!! Don't find them perched all that often !!!! btw a couple of years ago we had a nest in Marco with four chicks !!! Got some images with six birds !!!

I also don't think the vertical crop is necessarily better. But the top could be cropped off a bit though.
