    Siskin on Willow.
One of those pics you love it or hate it ! But thats where it sat .
From a hide in the garden. Sat on a growing sallow bush. Possibly a pair nest buildingb in some large ornamental conifers.
Not too keen on the plain backdrop but thats just a personal thing.

Nice pose and perch, and great color coordination the bird chose to give you. I'm usually guilty of cropping too tightly, but I could imagine a version of this with a little more room all around. I'm fine with the background, except for some posterization.

    Thanks Bill
Just gone back and checked it. Not done with the D7100, but the old D200. (4.5 mp,s!) Older than I thought ! Could get some more on the three sides but the bottom is as is and it would be a pig to add to.
The BG is a mess I agree. Tried to lighten it a bit to relieve the boredom.!- Should have left it !
    Thanks for bothering to comment.
    Cheers

Just wonderfully composed, John. Like the complimentary colors of the willow perch. Agree with a bit more room around. I feel the way the Siskin is perched adds interest and probably a more comfortable position.

Plain background shows off the bird well and the image is very colour coordinated.
Good close up though showing the fine feather detail of a male Siskin.

I like the way that the bird is posed on the very complementary perch. Great detail for 4.5 mps! I'm OK with the crop, but then again I am always being told I crop too tightly!! These are lovely looking birds that I have never seen. TFS
