    While exploring some new NJ shoreline, we ended up at Union Beach. In the distance beyond this Willet, we could see lower Manhattan through the haze. C&C welcome.

    D4S, Nikon 500mm + 1.4 TC, 1/2500s, f 6.3, ISO 800, Gitzo tripod, Wimberley Gimbal head.

    Hi Geoff Like the conveyance in the shot of the movement of the bird.
    Certainly looks like he wasd going places !

    The light was tough at that time of day, but the raised foot and open beak really capture this guy's attitude. Well done.

    Really upright stance and marching to his own drummer. I like the open beak and raised foot, and the feather pattern is very nice.

    Now that is a fun pose! The light was indeed harsh, but I believe that warming up the WB (but not too much!) and raising the saturation a tad would work well. I also miss the presence of a reflection or catchlight on the eye.
