    Default Snowy Plover Again

    Hi All,

I went to Bolivar Flats same location Again. This time weather was really good. Based on my previous experience I waited for the exact moment (close to sunset) to front lit the subject. I tried to get the back ground as clean as I can. This was on of the best ones out of close to 1500 shots for this subject. I am still skimming through the shots. I was thinking of cloning out the black colors in the background but decided against to post the shot straight out of Camera.

    Light Changes made:-

    • Exposure correction
    • Cropping

Lovely light -- glad to see you went back! With the two dark horizontal bands parallel to one another, they make, for me, a virtual horizon, and I'd rotate the image to level it.

You don't say how much you've already cropped but if there is any way to get closer it would give you better sharpness and detail. But you got a very nice shot of a cute subject in great light. The perfect alert pose head turn with a very nice catchlight.

    Look forward to seeing more!

    Hi Diane,

Thank you for the comments. I will correct the horizon. It just slipped my mind to correct the horizon.

    Thanks

Krishna, Lovely little bird in very nice light. Planning your shots has paid off. I might consider cropping all round. I am not familiar with the birds colour, but his eye and bill look a little dark? I agree with the rotation.

Hi Krishna, very nice light and beautiful subject. I love these cute little peeps on the shore. They are very amusing. If it were my picture, I will clone out the top black line. The cute plover looks crushed from the top and bottom, but that's probably just me. I think the dark eye is quite true to what I observe in the field as well. That catch light though has a magical touch to it. For the crop, I agree with Glennie about cropping in a lot more to show case the bird better. If you are looking for a more minimal shot, then the placement of the bird in the frame needs to be reworked in my opinion. Ah, that beautiful light is magical.

Great light and I love the golden glow it gives to your subject! I agree with cropping a bit more to highlight the subject but I really like the overall scene.
