Not sure if this works so let me know if you like it or not as the case may be
In the late evening the gulls were flying in the shadow off the cliff-face. In one spot there was a part of the cliiftop missing letting a beam of light through
I was trying to get the full bird in the light with dark BG but only managed the front of the gull. Would have liked a better wing position but it is in the dark anyway so not too bothered on this occasion

It works for me Shane (I did similar last year with a fulmar!) I like it very much, i would suggest looking at the dark wing tips to see if you can lift them a little and the tail & trailing wing feathers look rather blue.
Hi Shane, I like the concept and the richness to the image, but it does (for me) have the appearance of being a tad 'too processed', as the 'Deep' blue I think/feel is masking a lot from the actual image, as highlighted in Jon's thought above.
I dont know where the deep blue has come from to be honest and now I cannot find where i saved the raw, so removed the blues from the topside and tail and left same as was
It wont look right until i can find the RAW but let me know if this looks better
