    Drakensberg Rockjumper
    Sani Pass, South Africa

I got to spend a few hours watching this beautiful endemic and his partner build a nest on the slopes of the Sani Pass in South Africa. These birds must be some of the toughest are country has to offer (as if you had to experience the extreme temperatures and whether on the pass you would have a ton of respect for them).

I hope this portrait does him justice and look forward to your comments

The portrait is lovely, if just a little tight in the frame. Nice detail and bonus nesting material. I like the raised foot in the first image, although the shadow is a little dominant.

The portrait is the keeper. Nice details in the darks and lights and I like the red eye. The Pipit is nice but a bit grainy and the light and shadow aren't the best. Well done

Thanks David and Bill. Totally agree with you regarding the pipit. I he actually tried to delete it as my self crit was in line with yours and hence I thought I would get a better shot before posting. Thanks for the comments regarding the portrait! It was one of my favourites from the trip :)
