From a single shot of a full frame cloud at sunset (no sky). 4 (or more) renditions (mirrored, polar coordinates, circular mask, rotated, color fill layer with painted mask) blended. SEP and Topaz Adjust for tonal adjustments. At some point I began thinking of the photo of the Earth known as the Blue Marble which was taken from Apollo 17.

    Thanks for looking.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Looks like a blue Saturn. And yet, a blue marble, too. Lovely.

I have to admit I can't visualize what you did along the way, but I like the result. That white disc with its rings is a great touch, especially with it being at an angle.

Wonderful result and very creative mini-world approach! The interior swirled blues & browns are beautiful. They do look like oceans and continents. The "Saturn ring" is the icing on this image! It really gives the image a foundation for interpretation.

Blue marble indeed--that is the image I thought of when I first saw this. Nice blue of colors in the "marble." I wonder what it would look like a bit brighter/lighter. Someone is going to have a hard time selecting winning images this month.

    Hazel, Dennis, Nancy, Anita,

Thanks much for your comments. I appreciate them very much. Anita, agree it should be toned up a bit.

BTW, the ring is a SEP converted high key version of the original polar image circle cropped and transformed flat to a tight ellipse. Rotated diagonal, overlay blend with intersecting and behind the globe parts hand masked out. All color is from masked, blended fill layers,

    Original image for your amusement:

I'd never have guessed. Thanks for posting it. I like the long-eared dog in the lower half.

Michael, the Blue Marble, an alternative Saturn, whatever it is it is beautiful and wonderfully creative

It is indeed very creative. I won't pretend to understand how you did it! I haven't had but one good result on a SW image so I quit attempting them, haha. I also think some brightness and contrast might give it more "punch".
