Desert Osprey in Baja Sur, Mexico whale camp.
Ospreys were ground nesters historically in this desert area but the introduction of Coyotes almost
wiped them out. Some still nest on the ground in certain areas but the rest rely on manmade structures.
The Osprey pair I observed spent all of the non nest "perch time" on the ground which I had never seen before.
Dan...This is great. I love the sharpness of the bird and vegetation, and the knowledge that, that is your tent in the BG. I'm sure you would have considered cropping below the tent, but for me, this cements that memory of the whale camp for you, forever.
I like the setting, story and information. If mine I would crop up from the bottom to just above the OOF white shell or rock in the center of the frame, but that is my personal preference. Is that one of the man made towers that you referred to in your story in the distance behind your tent?
Would be a good publicity for a tent making company. As Jim says I like the story telling here too. I see some funky stuff in the upper left corner...did you clone something out?
Cool looking frame with the tent in the BG Dan. I like the Mexican desert habitat around her.
I remember going to San Filipe camping in the 70s with my parents and there must have been some kind of a fish eruption because there were dozens of osprey all around us hunting as my brother and I floated around in our inner tubes. It was awesome.
I will always remember that trip. Thanks for the memories
