This image was taken while I was walking across the cliffs on Fair Isle, between the Shetlands and mainland Scotland

Not sure if a cliff counts as the shore but it was close enough to the sea

Practically full frame just cropped for composition.

Dropped 1/3EV on ACR conversion and then usual levels and selective sharpening

Thanks for viewing. Comments and critiques welcome

Hi Shane, nice moment captured here. Details are great and the whites look well exposed. Also good that you got a dark background to help the bird stand out. TFS

I like the subject, nice whites and sharp details. The roosting cavity is a neat spot for it to be nestled in, and the green grass adds some nice colours. I do feel the thick oof FG band along the right edge is a bit unfortunate - I'm wondering if you would have been able to move to your left a couple of inches without falling into the sea?

Thanks guys. Daniel i was cliffhanging really so not much of an option to move left. I can however crop that out without affecting IQ too much. Will try it out and post a bit later

That's what I figured! I like the balance of the comp as is so I would not crop anymore. How about changing the colour of that band to match the rest more closely? It does not stand out as much this way. What do you think?

Not sure what Daniel has done here but I simply LOVE this image. You have managed to frame this bird beautifully and given us an up close glimpse of this rare beauty.!
