    Default Hello from San Antonio

    Hi Everyone,

I’ve been lurking for a couple of weeks now and boy, what an awesome forum you have here.

Loved photography for years and did quite a bit of darkroom work in high school and college. Never lost the bug, just didn’t allocate the time as professional life started. Times and priorities change, so I’m happy to be back behind the camera and in the outdoors again.

Dodge and burn are not new concepts to me. But my experience was hunched over gleaming white print paper waving around a sheet of paper with a hole in the center like mad with the smell of fixer and cleaner solutions all around. No clue how to do that digitally yet. But I do know that I won’t miss the smells.

Still haven’t got my head around digital workflow, so expect to see some really basic questions from me in that area as well as a photograph or two in the Eager to Learn section soon.

Really looking forward to interacting with ya’ll. So much talent and knowledge here that I hope to learn from!

    All the best,

    Randy

    Hi Randall,

Welcome! Hop into ETL and check out the tutorials on my web site. The list is growing as I have time to write them. You'll find dodging and burning is covered -- something I couldn't live without.

Welcome to BPN, Randall. Any away and remember that we have an "educational resource" forum on BPN with some very good educational materials/learning tools. You'll learn a tremendous amount just going through those.

Hi Diane. Done! Anxious to try out your technique versus the lasso, quick select and focus area methods. Thanks for pointing me to the materials. Great resource.

Thank you. Yes, I need to spend more time in there. But there are so many excellent images to look at! Need to budget my time more efficiently. LOL
