I like the wide open feel to this one with just the few grasses to hold the scene together.I really am a sucker for this type of shot it is right up my street, bet that animal is pleased to have that fine coat to live in those conditions, very well thought out and executed Rachel.

Hi Rachel, I think this can work both 'as presented' and without the 'scrub'. Nicely timed with the raised front leg and side profile. being small in frame opposed to the 'norm' we generally see, is very refreshing, plus a nice change of species too.

Rachel, this is very cool, for me the scrub is integral, it adds so much depth, to the image. What really thrills is the snow kicked up under his belly by his foot. For me your composition is wonderful and I echo the thoughts of seeing a north american predator.
Rachel is there a very small v shaped plant upwards and slightly right of his nose,it doesn't bother me actually it adds interest for me,just checking what i'm seeing
cheers for sharing this
take care
Stu

Dearest Rachel,
I personally prefer this frame with the scrub included - IMO that sparse vegetation just frames this so well, good thinking out there in the field and lovely PP work too.
This is very well exposed. The colours convey the cool atmosphere you aimed for, subject stands out beautifully and I love the way his feet are sunk beneath the dusting of soft snow - superb capture my friend

Rachel, I like how the shrubs at the top anchor the image for me. The pose is dynamic and the snow lends an element of minimalism to the shot.
Nice work!

Thanks everyone, glad you like this one. Stu - yes, there are tops of other shrubs poking through in a couple of places.
Thanks again,
Rachel

Hi Rachel
I looked for any blown HL in snow or choked blacks on coyote, did not see any.
What metering mode did you use, did you use TK in PP?
The shrubs on top anchors the image nice, but a tighter crop is also possibility to emphasise the "white vastness".
Like it!

Thanks Haseeb, Jon and Andre. Andre- Evaluative metering (btw I don't scrub my EXIF so you can usually see it in Bridge or PS) and no TK (I disclose in my intro if I use any lumo masks). Yes, cropping tighter is an alternative as Steve also suggested.
Thanks again,
Rachel
