Nice pose from both subjects and you did well to get both of them sharp. The muted light brings a lot of character into this image. Seaweed and BG highlight the birds nicely

I did a try at brightening the birds slightly as think the crab is too dark and is a main feature in this image

Hope you dont mind my attempt

Nice catch. The repost looks better.

Vibrant image, very nice. Is it my imagination or is there a slight blue cast?

    Hi Shane,

Yes I think you are right - the brightened image does look better and the shadow of the crab on the bird is still visible. Thank you. Steve

    Hi Ihtisham,

If there is a blue cast it might be from the time of day and the blue light reflected from the ocean - I guess. I went there to photograph a pair of harlequin ducks that mooch around at a certain phase of the tide. They had left the scene but these two gulls looking for crabs provided a good replacement. Hi Steve, good wing display showing up the feather detail, and the crab is a huge bonus. Shane's repost has taken the Gulls to another level.

Hi Steve, "Good replacement" is an understatement. It is great - I specially like the way you nailed the beak of the second gull. For possible color cast (and my monitor might be suspect here, too) I usually try the color correct buttons at the bottom of the curves or levels dialog boxes in photoshop (not sure what is the equivalent in dpp though.) Ihtisham
