I was in Galveston, Feather Fest. As part of a Feather Fest we went for Photography field Trip in Bolivar Flats. I took this shot of Pelican Landing from Flight at Bolivar Flats North Jetty.

Let me know your comments on this shot.

Hi I like the nice detail in this cool bird and the contrast and sharpness, and you captured the turbulent water well. I would like to see the eye better, too bad he had to look away, (silly wild birds with a mind of their own) ;) The others in the background are somewhat distracting for me, but that could just be me :)

Thank you for the comments. I tried to get the eyes in focus but at the last moment he looked away...

Great landing pose with the splash, very nice sharpness and detail, especially for ISO 3200. What camera?

I don't mind the look away as he is concentrating on the touchdown point.

The two in the BG are a distraction. If there was more canvas top and left they would be less of an issue, but hard to plan things like that in the heat of action. With some careful masking and cloning they could be removed.

I wonder if the color is leaning just a little toward brown. Might be worth a look at white balance if you haven't.

Krishna, ditto the above. I think the image shows a action and the two OOF birds, behind increase the action. Daniel Cadieux from the "avian" forum had an interesting blog post about this subject. http://www.dancadphotography.com/blog/
I have many shots like this, but wonder if the extra bird adds or subtracts the value of the image. I like the almost monotone colours.

Well done. Looking to see more!

    Hi Glennie,

Thank you for the comments. I will check out the blog.

    Hi Diane,

I Intentionally changed the white balancing. I wanted to depict the brownish color of the water at the scene due to high tide. This is the shot with out the changes.

    Thanks
    Krishna

Krishna, I like the repost better. Could their be a very slight magenta cast?

Very nice! Yes, it would be nice without the OOF birds in the BG but not a deal breaker for me.

    Hi Glennie,

The difference between two shots was the temperature difference

    First --- Temp 5650 , Tint 0 (Custom WhiteBalance )

    Second -- Temp 5150, Tint -1 (As Shot )

I do have a tendency to increase the temperature scale in lightroom to make it look like its shot in golden hour. I guess thats the culprit.

Krishna, it doesn't really matter what I like in the long run. It's what pleases you.
