Hi Luis, welcome back! I really like the small in the frame concept. But I am finding the light and dark transition a little too harsh; and because it essentially divides the image in halves the small in the frame concept is kinda lost to me (at least this is my impression). What about lifting up the curve on the dark side?
Also, I think the photograph could benefit a clockwise rotation. I like to use the water ripple as a "horizon indicator". What do you think?
Luis, A different image. I know the bird is "small in frame", but for me, he's just a bit too small in frame. Adhika has some good comments. The bird looks a bit soft to me.
Hi Luis, welcome back! Good comments from Adhika and Glennie.
Use the oval ripple around the perch to determine level. Another good trick when applicable is to to line up the eye (or other prominent detail) with its reflection.
The subject is on a lovely perch but is just too indistinct at this size and with this head angle. If the head had been in profile it would be a little more recognizable. What was your focal length? Any chance to zoom in more?
As is, I would at least crop about 1/4 from the top, about halfway to the bird's head.
I'm on a laptop and can't judge detail in lights and darks very well, but LR has huge leeway to bring out detail in both lights and darks. It would be worth a try to look at it here.
