    Default Red-tailed Hawk Calling

Here's another image from my outing with our very own David Salem in January. He has set up a number of perches at a wildlife area near his home and really gives his customers quite the personal experience shooting from a vehicle. Be sure to think about planning a trip to CA with David especially around Nov/Dec.

This was my first opportunity to ever photograph a perched red-tailed hawk, and I was especially pleased when it gave me a look-back pose and briefly called. I was actually paying attention.

Awesome image Marina, I have a similar frame too but he isn't calling! wish this one was mine. BG and light are both right on the money

Lovely shot Marina I like the pose, the eye contact makes it special, my only criticism is I wish it was 1000px

I remember this one!! I din't get it!! The open beak adds to an already nice shot of this handsome hawk. The light that evening was killer and your techs look perfect. Glad you got this shot and Im really glad that you came out for a few days. Thanks for the endorsement too, I appreciate it. See ya soon.

Lovely image, Marina. Nice calling and look back pose. Beautiful complimentary colors of the bird and background. Thank you for sharing.

Very nice look-back pose; the calling is a treat. Good light and lovely background. I could imagine another version with a tighter crop, but I like it as posted.

Hey, that bird looks familiar! The open beak and look back make this great image even better. When are you going to post some of your handsome Merlin pics?

Congrats on your hawk image Marina! Killer light and BG. Neat perch too. I like that at least one of the feet is showing.

Great shot of this hawk. light is superb and super details showing through. Calling really adds to this already excellent frame.

Saw this when you posted it but never got round to commenting - sorry!

Absolute peach of a shot, I love dorsal views with a head turn, and the calling pose takes this up several notches.
