We spotted our first Purple Martin scouts on March 25 and immediately put up some apartment houses for them by our vegetable garden. Now, many more birds have arrived to check out the apartments and settle in. These birds were in a nearby weeping cherry tree.

Love seeing the pair, but I'm sorry to say the birds both look soft and the light quite harsh.

Thanks Marina. The birds are quite sharp on my monitor, but I sharpened very lightly and could easily sharpen them more if necessary. As for the light, the photo was taken in soft morning light before 8:00 AM.

A fine shot Norm I wonder if the darkest plumage is a little choked? Maybe a slight drop in contrast would help as I think the blossoms are just on the edge of overexposure. Also not sure if I am seeing some chromatic aberration on the tiny feathers that stick out against the sky.
I appreciate it is easy for me to say but had the birds been engaged in better eye contact the image would have been in a higher league, having said that I like the image very much.

Great comments Jon. I'll experiment with your suggestions.
