I got lots of this behaviour, and it was fun to photograph! Right in the backyard too! This is another favorite of the session. For more images of this behaviour, and a few simple tips on perch selection, check out my new blog post: http://www.dancadphotography.com/pin...ressive-finch/
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/7.1, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, cropped for comp with a bit of canvas added above as the wing tip was touching the edge (borrowed some perch material from a separate frame), eye work.
This is a unique frame as well although I find the previous one much stronger. The left wing is so powerful, yet the right wing position detracts a bit. Love where you're going with these.
Dan I am really enjoying these, like the aggressive pose and like your last so clean and natural, think the birds colour and the BG are made for each other.
