I thought the Bg complimented the gull nicely. Thanks for all your critics. Nikon D5, Nikon 200-400 at 400mm hand held, ISO 2000, F5.6 at 1/2000sec

Thanks Arash. Have not used the new body but one day, my first impression is that the ISO improvement over the D4 is at least 1 1/2 stops, shutter seems not as loud and was pleased with the added pixels when cropping images. Did not have many flight shots yet to see if the autofocus is improved.

Like this a lot. Especially the way the beak seems to centralise things. Good whites too.

Theres the usual internet rubbish about the D5 i've noticed. This would help shut some of the keyboard warriors up nicely. Brilliant feather details and an nice preening pose. Feathers are sharp but soft as well if that makes sense.

Nice preening pose and well done with the whites. That one feather being pinched is a neat detail! I like the vertical composition too. Not sure if it's my monitor, but the gull's grey feathers have a purplish cast to them?

Beautiful shot love the exposure, I too wondered about a slight purple cast in the darker plumage.

Nice intimate portrait of this nice adult. Exposure and details look great and I really like the pop of red on the bill. Well done
