This male watched his lady walk away from the area they were lying down in the shade. Lazily, he eventually got up to follow but she had rapidly disappeared. He lay down again and called constantly to see if she would reply. I was able to manoeuvre us into a little depression to get a lower point of view to shoot a few images

Hi Carl - A majestic looking male with a nice look in the direction of camera. The image feels a little thin and light. I did a very quick curves adjustment to the midtones and also brought the darks slider in levels in until just before they choked. WDYT?
Superb pose from this beautiful male lion, he has given us so many wonderful opportunities!
Well framed and I like the surrounding vegetation. Techs look great. I find the OP a bit thin in terms of colour, although IMO the frame does not lack detail or sharpness. You could perhaps achieve a more tridimensional feel here with some curves/levels adjustment, as per Rachel's recommendation above. I would also use the burn tool to enhance certain areas (paws, for example).
I hope you can share more of this "lazy boy"... as I look at him now he seems much older than I thought he was...Those scars on his face add lots of character...He is so handsome:)
Thank you so much for sharing Carlie. Should you see more of him, please keep us up to date regarding his whereabouts, as well as his behaviour
Cool angle and a nice alert pose here Carl.
I like what Rachel did but would also like to see a version where the contrast is added to the lion only and not to the whole image?
Hi Carl, I see you have upped your game with a serious body, well no excuses in not nailing the capture, especially with the ISO
The OP looks thin, with no real depth or tone, washed out, think perhaps the exposure wasn't perfect and the sharpening a tad too much. With that kit you should be getting good captures, remember these bodes are designed to enable you to achieving the capture, you need to drive it, hence correctly setting it up, it's a big step from the MKIII & MKIV. Rachel's RP is better, but with Canon you need to avoid Contrast. Good low POV and the body posture, well timed in retaining that tail, the tip is gorgeous.
Not a great BKG, slightly distracting in parts, but that's wildlife, you could address some of the more prominent elements, but just depends on you POV/ethics.
Hi Carl -- I am pretty late on this but absolutely anjoyed viewing this image of a very handsome Lion . You have received some great suggestions and Rachel's RP makes a perfect example . I hope to see more of this character .
