    Hi All,

I took this one this morning whilst cruising the streets of Chicago...I've cloned a little and cropped and would love some advice as to how I could further improve the image. Thanks so much guys!

Love this image Nicki I like the elements making up the image, does convey a sense of cold and has a great feel !!!

Would suggest having the fire down some more close to the intersecting line of thirds. Powerful objects go well there. The pigeons look fine but would arrange different. Need to have clear margins around the image, not a good idea cutting birds. At the time of making you could back up or move slightly. If you end up with a couple could take care in PS !!!

Hope you get the opportunity to make this one over. Worth spending some time and nailing !!! Big Congrats on this one !!!

    Thanks Al!
I'm going to go back to the same spot tomorrow morning and try to retake the picture. As I was looking for the best angle a street sweeper appeared and scared all the birds away...I agree - this setting is too good an oppurtunity to miss. I'll post my next effort tomorrow!!
    Best rdards,

It's so hot here, hard to imagine pigeons would sit next to a fire. :) Great suggestions by Al, good luck tomorrow!

I think Al pretty much got everything covered ! Just need to shoot from a different perspective. I'm not sure you could avoid not having some birds cut if they're all over the place. Perhaps need the help of post-processing.

I think that some post-processing is inevitable. It will be a tricky shot to pull off as the fire is fenced off in a small enclosure which I have cloned out of the above shot. May have to try from a higher perspective.
