Default Sigma 150-600 Contemporary or Sport???

I have been thinking about buying a Sigma 150-600 to get some increased distance. I currently have a Canon 100-400 L IS V1 lens. I shoot a lot of Wildlife, especially birds. Anyone have any experience with either the Contemporary or Sport? Which one is going to give me better sharpness from 400 to 600?? Thanks so much for any of your imput in advance.

Center sharpness should be comparable with both lenses. I prefer the Contemporary because it's half the price and 2 pounds lighter.

I have tried the sport and found it to be very front heavy. If you are handholding for long periods it becomes annoying

It was quite sharp at 600mm wide open though

Just tried the contemporary and really liked it. The sport is too heavy , more expensive and is simply better weather coated. So bribg a lenscoat or garbage bag with the contemporary.

I went with Sports version due to the fact that Image quality was much better than Contemporary. Sports lens is heavier, front heavy but you will get used to it.

For me the image quality outweighed the lens weight.

FYI I just published a comparison of the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary and Sport lenses that I co-authored with good friend Greg Basco. The field review can be found in my blog at my website.
