    Default Cherry Tree

This native cherry tree glows in the early morning light. The image turned out darker than I originally intended.
I used three textures by Shadowhouse Creations, and the Lighting Effects filter. I'm learning about adding selective light to images and practiced on this one.

With the lighting on the tree, the fence and the nearby ground all against the darker background, the image has very effective contrast. I can easily see the whole scene, but my attention is directed where you wanted it. The overall transition from lighter at the top of the image to darker at the bottom grounds it nicely. I like this.

It is a bit dark but reminds me of an old world painting. Selective lighting is a technique that I'd love to know more about.

Beautiful. I am imagining this scene without the fences. I really like the mood to this one, Anita. Thanks for sharing!

I think the fences are necessary to anchor the photo. Without them, it would be just a tree in the forest. If you want minimalism, that would work.

    Anita,

Greetings. A real knockout. The textures and the lighting really set the mood. I wish it were a wider view (my taste for this type of image). Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

Thank you all for commenting. I know this is not a winner, but it was fun to work with.

    Hazel:
One way of creating selective lighting is to go to >Filter >Render >Lighting Effects. Experiment with different ones. Do this on a new layer so you can change opacity and blend modes if needed.
Another way is to create an adjustment layer such as Curves, darken the entire image, then paint in the areas you want lighter using a black brush.

    Good luck.

Lovely scene. Love the drama of the lighting.

Sorry I'm so late commenting. I like the mood to this one, Anita. You can also use Nik Color Efex Pro Reflector Efex to enhance lighting or the Radial tool in LR - so many ways to skin a cat
