This image was created back in late February during a visit to the Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Reserve near Gravenhurst, Ontario. A clear sky spoiled any chance for a nice sunrise so I set-up near this winter Sugar Maple tree and waited for the sun to rise above the horizon to catch the starburst effect, coupled with the shadows radiating out from the tree towards my position. A low perspective was chosen to eliminate as much merging of the tree branches with the ridge in the distance.

The sunburst adds interest and enhances composition. Not a spectacular scene, but very enjoyable to view. Not sure about the lens flare at the upper right.

I like the composition Andrew, a simple scene well done. Flare noted..

Very interesting composition, Andrew. The leading line is really strong here. Unfortunately, I am not a big fan of the sun star from rounded apertures.
