On my way from Iowa back to California I decided to make a quick run through Yellowstone. My FIRST :D
All I can say is "WOW" I think I'll be doing that again !!! One day wasn't enough

I captured a Coyote that had just brought down a young Elk and was having a nice bloody breakfast.

I used this photo to test my PP. I would like to make improvements to this, if necessary, to use on the series of breakfast photos.

    Any help or ideas appreciated............

How do you like it and is there anything that needs improvement?

    thanks in advance

Hi Anthony Would like seeing more room all around A good rule of thumb is having the animal taking up about 75 to 80 % of the frame.

As presented you can improve the eyes by selecting and making more prominent, the bg can be blurred just a bit and maybe slight contrast increase. You do have a good pose and head angle. Will do some work and re post !!!

Thanks for the look and comments Alfred.
Here is the Original UNTOUCHED file except for WB and downsize for web with 1 round USM .3/100/0

Here is what I did to the original posted photo at the top of this post

I adjusted the white balance a tad as it was a bit blue for some reason even though I was in Auto WB. It was early morning ( 6:30 A.M.)

I added contrast in ACR and a bit more in PS
Brightened the Eye and Nose with the Dodge tool
Burned some of the edge fur / Right Ear as there were a few bright areas
Sharpen tool around eye and mouth
    downsize and sharpened for web

What do you think I should have done more/less of or what I should do different.

    Hi Anthony

Here is what I did with the original. Cropped a a little from the top and wished there was more behind. Color corrected using iCorrect Color Lab Simple just place the tip of the probe on something neutral, picked the nose. Did change some. Used Shadow/highlight set at 25/55/235 Then adjusted in selective color the neutral and black channel. Could have gone over the bg and blurred the grass a bit.

Good looking image just the needed space at the rear !!!!
